Hi, I'm Dana — and behind this whole site, there's just me, a very opinionated wren nesting outside my studio window, and an inbox I read myself. If you've got a question about a pattern, spotted a typo in a chart, or want to talk collaboration, this page tells you exactly how to reach me and what to expect.

The fastest way to reach us

Email is the only channel I actively monitor, and it's genuinely the quickest way to get a real answer: [email protected]. I don't run a contact form because forms tend to swallow details I actually need — like which pattern, which row, or which size you're working in — so please just write to me directly and include as much of that as you can.

What kinds of messages are welcome

Truly, all of it. This site only works because people tell me things, so please don't hesitate to write in about:

• Pattern questions — stuck on a stitch count, unsure about ease, or trying to resize something outside the graded range.
• Corrections — a typo, a miscounted row, a chart that doesn't match the text. I would rather know than not.
• Content suggestions — a stitch you want demystified, a garment shape you wish someone would grade properly, a seasonal project idea.
• Technical issues — broken links, missing schematics, download problems, anything on the site that isn't behaving.
• Collaborations — yarn brands, tool makers, testers, and fellow designers. Please start on the Collaboration page first, as it covers what I'm looking for and how partnerships work here.
• Press and media — interview requests, feature inquiries, or anything you're writing that involves Yarn Wren.

Tips for a fast, useful reply

I answer every email myself, which means I'm one person reading a growing pile of messages — so a little detail up front saves us both a back-and-forth. When you write, it helps enormously to include:

• The exact pattern name or blog post URL you're referencing.
• Your size (if it's a garment) and which row, round, or section you're on.
• A photo of your work-in-progress, if the issue is visual (gauge swatches and amigurumi shaping especially benefit from a quick picture).
• Whether you've made any substitutions — different yarn weight, hook size, or stitch swap — since that changes the math.

A quick health and safety note

Crochet is wonderfully low-risk, but a few things are worth flagging. If a pattern is designed for a baby, toddler, or pet — amigurumi especially — please always use safety eyes rated for the intended use, secure them properly, and avoid loose beads, small attachments, or anything that could become a choking hazard. Stuffing should be washable and non-toxic, and any wearable meant for young children should be checked for loose threads or embellishments before gifting. If you ever have a concern about a specific pattern's safety for a particular use, email me — I'd rather answer that question than have anyone guess.

Before you write in

A few quick answers that might save you a message: I don't offer custom, one-off pattern-writing services, and I can't grade a pattern in a size overnight — genuine multi-size grading takes real testing time.
